“ Low 4 but still a 4 :p This is a really small Guatemalan restaurant in the middle of a ghetto neighborhood near Bob Hope airport (4 min away!) I wanted to go to a more popular restaurant next door called Salsa and Beer but it was too crowded and i didnt have much time before my flight so i tried this place out. The parking spot is really tiny and really hard to get into. But there is parking, gotta be grateful for that in LA area lolol The server did not know a single word in English so it was a little difficult to ask her stuff xD And they didnt have beer!! i was sooo sad about this. I wasnt a fan of their atmosphere but i did like their food for its price. Antojitos Amalias ($15) Really big portion i could not finish it!!! But really pretty dish with different options here and there. I highly suggest this. Carne Asada ($15) Big portion too. I didnt like this as much. The meat was kinda burnt and chewy. Come with fresh tortilla and veggies, beans, salsa. Horchata ($2) It was a little different than what i would expect from a normal horchata but it definitely grew on me throughout the meal. It had grounded pumpkin seed in it too which made it even more interesting xD I'm glad i got to try the place out but i dont think i would go back again. ”
“ Manager/owner was very friendly. I think they can use better waitresses/host! The decor inside is nice! We walked in and well, It was empty, just had 2 customers inside eating!! Had to ask the waitress to play "marimba" (guatemalan music) helps to make it feel at home! They serve chips and beans which is something different and the beans are good! I ordered "pepyan de Gallina" - honestly, I have had better!! It had a wierd taste to it! Um had "garnachas" they were very good! They make pupusas here , it was okay. We will be back, next time we are in town! ”
“ My first time today Saturday April 22nd . I was craving chicharrones with yuca. My server cami was very attentive . She make sure I was seated right away with a clean table. She brought my food hot not too mention the chicharrones were so delicious . I will definitely come again this place has a menu of delicious meats. Also a lot of choices of drinks. I suggested to anybody that I want to eat good food .. ”
“ This place has had a renovation and they now go by "muchá" The decor is very interesting and colorful, seating is spacious and comfortable. The waitresses were very friendly and patient. They even helped us celebrate a special occasion by playing "las mañanitas" and bringing out a special pastry. The food is classic and delicious! Very well made, and not greasy at all. Highly recommend this place ”
“ Love, love, LOVE. This was my first experience with Guatemalan food, I'd read many reviews and lists on what the best options were here in the Valley and am very happy to have come here--because WOW. If you've never tried Guatemalan food, it's worth the drive (and even if you have, this place is much better than those off the main roads aka Ventura Boulevard). ”
“ This little place is around the corner from friends house. Nice that it's in easy walking distance. We had the Antojitos Amalias which included: 3 taquitos, 1 Chunchito, 1 tamalito de chipilin. We also ordered the Yuca con Chicharron. I LOVE yuca and this was yummy. The chicharron was little hard. It was fried yuca and pork belly on salad. Our last entree was the huge sampler plate Plato Amalias; carne Asada, carne adobada, chile relleno, Longanzina sausage(was so flavorful and different), guacamole, black beans and fried plantains. All ws relish! Then the guys had to have dessert too. They got flan and Mollete(which is sweet bread filled with custard severed in sauce. I had to take photos of the menu for this white girl to remember how to write this review! The lack of one star is for the very slow service. I think we were there 1 1/2 hours for lunch. If you have time -enjoy! ”
“ I just randomly stumble into this place by accident on my way to home depot. The place had a nifty atmosphere and had specials for a every day M-F. I tried today's special that was pan con pollo with fries along with an agua fresca pineapple. I have to say I was quite please with my meal, it was more than enough for me and quite inexpensive at that. I will be coming back to try their kaqik which is a more traditional Guatemalan dish. I do recommend stopping by to check this place out for their specials and traditional meal items. Parking was a bit nerve wrecking getting out since I have to pull out into the street from the spot because it was a small parking area. But looking forward returning here and trying more of their menu items. ”
